Modern-day gang-themed mod for Warband

Gangs of Glasgow Remastered - Warband Edition Mod is a free game utility from octaviusacevedo. This mod brings the role-playing experience Mount & Blade: Warband from the medieval world of Calradia to contemporary Scotland. The same rules apply: build your gang and conquer all the others. Strengthen the dissatisfied citizens and laborers and overpower the rest of the gangs of Glasgow.

Basically, Gangs of Glasgow Remastered - Warband Edition Mod feels like an entirely different game experience that was only built on the same engine. Other expansive mods for Warband include Mount & Blade: Warband: A Gothic Tale Mod or Full Invasion 2 Mod.

Stamp out the competition

Warband has become one of the quintessential games in the medieval genre, with all of its content adhering to this style. With Gangs of Glasgow Remastered - Warband Edition Mod, however, you can forget all that. It has concrete roads, skyscrapers, and factories. The only familiar element here is the Scottish pub with its familiar atmosphere throughout the ages, making it feel like it would fit with the base game.

Speaking of custom content, the character models try their best to fit in but somehow feel awkward. Instead of fully customized models, the mod only reskins existing models. It makes the people in the game look like medieval characters only with different colors and decorations to match the aesthetic. Additionally, it retains the vanilla weapons system, which means medieval melee combat instead of more modern weapons.

Still, aside from the factions being turned into gangs, an interesting mechanic in this total conversion mod is that a government element is in place, although adjusted for a chaotic society. These are riot police, snatch squads, and blacked-out police vehicles—all ready to wage war on a random gang of their choosing. With the mature theme already out there, expect the same nonchild-friendly content in dialogue and effects.

Go all gangster-like

At some points in Gangs of Glasgow Remastered - Warband Edition Mod, it starts to feel closer to a Grand Theft Auto or Mafia spin-off than a custom content for Warband. Still, once you see the character models up close, you still see the medieval underneath all those reskinned outfits. Its value lies in the rework done to recreate factions as gangs plus an equally chaotic government unit.

  • Pros

    • Large volume of custom content for a modern setting
    • Factions turned into gangs and government units
  • Cons

    • Only uses texture reskin instead of custom models
    • Contains mature theme, language, and animation
    • Retains the vanilla weapons system
